Sultry Book Society Blog

Well Ladies, the time has finally arrived for me to create my first blog for you. At the Forsaken Secrets launch I mentioned that every fortnight I will be creating a blog with my top 5 favorite books and giving you a little insight as to what each book is about as well as giving you the Kindle unlimited and Google Play Books options. The reason for this is that Kindle Unlimited is a paid subscription and not everyone can afford the $11.99 per month and at least with Google Play Books all you need is your Gmail email ( this comes standard with Android phones) and you will then be able to read the free books.

A little back story:

I have been an avid reader for many years (since my grandparents bought me my first Disney books) and it slowly evolved into something I rely on to escape this crazy world. I had my first encounter with a romance novel in High school when I was a library monitor, and we got a large donation of books in one day. I offered to help the librarians read through some of the books in order to know if it was appropriate for the shelves in a high school and thus, they gave me a box and sent me on my merry way.

Three days into the box I stumble upon this rather large book, containing over 350 pages, for the life of me I cant remember the name of the book, but I do remember the cover of the book had a pink high heel wedge shoe that caught my eye. Well…..little-ol-me opened the book while sitting comfortably on the couch in the family home and I started reading…

(Here is just a little side note to this background, I was 16 years old and I enjoyed my fiction and non-fiction books but this was a whole new fiction for me!  Yes, I was not innocent at this time, but in a way I was, I had never known things to the extent that, that book described to me in the time I read it.)

Well, as I said, I started reading and reading and reading, I couldn’t put this book down, it went everywhere with me, at one point my mother (who will probably read this blog at some point) asked why I was so fascinated by this book, my answer? It was a really amazing book about a teenager and her life, this was only a little white lie…..yes it was about a teenager and her life, but what I didn’t tell my mother was that this teenager had a thing for her English teacher…..Yes, you read that right, it was a Student Teacher Age Gap romance book! The teenager was 16 and only had her father who worked a lot to support her and the teacher was 30, going through a divorce and hard times and the lovely young girl just wanted to “comfort” him. Well, you can just imagine what my imagination showed me and what this book taught me, and honestly, I think that book is the reason I have a thing for older guys. My husband being a mere 6 years older than me is just enough to satisfy my “older men” thing, but wow that book changed my life.

After reading that book I couldn’t wait to get my hands on another one! Easier said than done. Well, I hoped that one day I would be able to read another amazing book like that to fulfill my inner needs and my inner teenager, but life caught up with me and I met my husband when I was 19, had my one and only child when I was 20 and life became busy.

Up until my son turned 4 years old and decided dad was so much cooler to hang out with, I finally found myself some free time in the evenings. One stormy night, laying in bed, tired of watching series and movies on my phone, I recalled that I saw Google had Play Books so I went and took a look to see what they had. We had just bought our first home at the time, so I wasn’t willing to spend money on a book if that is what it required, but lo and behold, they offered me free books! I was hooked! What was the first thing I did? *Taps on search bar and types “Romance”* Well, well, well….such a variety was bestowed upon me and I went all in. After a few weeks I realized that I wasn’t too interested in the 150-200 page books, but more to thee extents of 250-300 pages. It took me a while to get back in to the rhythm of reading again, so it would take me roughly a week to read a book, but I enjoyed every second of that book. 6 years later and I can easily read a 600 page book in a day and still enjoy every moment of the book.

The funny part of all, is that my husband never really knew what type of books I was reading up until a few months ago, and all I can say is, he was SHOCKED! I let him read a nice steamy part of one of the chapters and since then, while laying in bed reading my book, he will crawl on to the bed with me and starting creating his own book in his head and telling me what he thinks I am reading about (the funniest things comes out of that mans mouth) but it makes me feel happy.

Now, when it comes to the book I am going to give you some advice, especially with online book platforms. If you’re going to spend money on google play buying a book, or a book series once a month (if you cant find a free book that you like or if you find a free book but need to pay for the next one, then by all means go ahead if you are only going to read that book or book series for the month, but if you know you are going to read that book/ book series quickly and you plan on spending more money, then rather go and spend that money on kindle, as that is a once a month fee and you will have an endless amount of books to read for “free”. ( I am in no way affiliated with Kindle Unlimited, I just know my online books) There are other platforms that you can red free books on, but I don’t tend to find books I enjoy on those platforms, so this what my experience is with regards to ebooks.

Below are the list of books I give you this fortnight and some notes about the books:

These books are all based on Student teacher interactions and you need to be at least 18+ years to read these books. They do contain sexual content.

Google Play Books:

Crave – by Piper Lawson

Pages: 206

Reading pages: 196

It ends with a cliff-hanger because it is a 4 book series, the other books in the series you will unfortunately have to purchase.

It’s a beautiful story with a lot of young love emotions and a lot of frustration.

Your Gravity – by L.G Castillo

Pages: 117

Reading pages: 108

This book ends with a MAJOR cliff-hanger, it has a huge twist and yes, I spent the money on this series! You can purchase the books one by one, it is a 3 book series, or you can purchase the entire series in one book which Play Books recently started doing and you get discount by doing this.

All I can say about this book is that it came out of nowhere! This is not a regular story, but it does have some major twists and turns, a lot of motions and it somehow confuses you, yet you seem to understand in a strange way.

Kindle Unlimited (Amazon):

Loving Mr. Daniels – by Brittainy Cherry

Pages: 340

Reading pages: 330 – including a prologue and epilogue.

This book is a stand-alone, which takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that you will not believe….you can feel the sadness, the anger, frustration and love emanating from this book.

Misbehaved – by Charleigh Rose

Pages: 301

Reading pages: 296

This book is a stand-alone. Its based on the life of a teenage girl who has grown up in a difficult situations but she is fighting her way through life to better herself, while still having to deal with her home life, school life and personal life. It’s a very heartwarming, motivating, stressful book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Crash Course – by Alyssa Wilde

Pages: 387

Reading pages: 378 with an Epilogue

This book was another emotional rollercoaster, reading this book made me feel everything that happened, from the nerves to the sadness, to the final happiness. It was definitely one of my favorite reads.

Thank you so much for getting this far. I hope you all enjoy my book suggestions. I will be giving an updated list in the next 2 weeks, if you would like for me to suggest a certain Sub-Genre of book please let me know in the comments section below, or you can email us to our website in our contact us tab.

I have read many Sub-Genre’s of romance novels so ill be happy to speak about any one of them. If you would also like to make some book suggestions to me, please do!

Until next time.
